Juan is the wanted criminal who walks in as a Lower Level Laborer. You can report him once for 125 Credits and +5 Security reputation, or let him go and he keeps coming back every 8 days with 7 to 15 packs of cheap food at 20% off. Letting him go has no downside, so the choice is a one-time bounty against a steady food supplier.

Who is Juan and how do you spot him?

Juan never says his name at the counter. Your store shows him as a Lower Level Laborer, and he opens with "Got some extra food to sell." The only way to know who he is at that moment is to check his face against the Security Wanted List.

If you let him leave without reporting him, you find out the next morning anyway: your night log says a contact told you that a wanted criminal, Juan, visited the store yesterday.

When does Juan show up?

His first visit is a random wanted criminal visit. Those start on Day 14, or on Day 5 if you skipped the tutorial, and at most one wanted criminal comes per day. The chance starts at 4% and grows by 2% for every day without one , and Juan is picked at random from the criminals you have not met yet. With the Known Snitch starting perk, no random wanted criminals come at all, so you never meet him.

After that first visit, he comes back on every day that is one more than a multiple of 8 (Day 17, 25, 33, 41, 49…) until he is caught. It does not matter whether you bought anything from him.

What does Juan sell?

Every visit he brings the same three foods: Peat, Pilk and Puice. He always has at least one of each, and each can come with up to four more. The chance of each extra one is 25% plus 2% per day, so he brings more the later it is, and from Day 38 on he always brings five of each.

Day 1759%10.1185
Day 2575%12220
Day 3391%13.9255
Day 41100%15275
He always brings at least 3 items and at most 15. Base value is before markup; he sells to you at 80% of it.

He sells everything with a 20% wholesale discount. All of it is handed over as stolen goods, but only the Peat stays stolen: it starts at 25 Heat and is clean after two nights. Pilk and Puice are worth too little to count as stolen, so they carry no Heat and you can put them out right away. See the contraband and Heat guide for what Heat does.

Wanted: Juan (bounty 125 credits)

Visits as part of their story and brings the items listed here.

Should you report Juan?

It depends on what you need.

  • Report him if you want the money and Security reputation now, or if you are trying to raise Security. The 125 Credits come once.
  • Let him go if food sells well in your store. From his second visit on he brings around 10 to 15 packs every 8 days at 20% off. Over a long run that is worth more than the bounty.

There is no penalty for letting him go and no reward for buying from him beyond the deal itself, so you can also put it off: let him go now and report him on a later visit when you need the bounty.

What happens when you report him?

The first time you press Call Security on Juan, nothing happens yet. He stops you: "Wait, wait! Please don't report me!", and promises to keep bringing you cheap food.

  • Press Call Security again to really report him.
  • Buy from him or send him away to let him go. He says "You won't regret it." and leaves, and he keeps visiting as usual.

He only begs once per run. If you let him go after his plea and report him on a later visit, Security comes straight away.

Once he is reported, Security takes him and, when they leave, you get 125 Credits . Your Security reputation goes up by 5 and your Lower Levels reputation goes down by 6. Juan is marked as caught on the Wanted List and never comes back.

What happens if you let him go?

Nothing bad. He takes the deal or leaves, and on his next return day he walks in again with "Same deal as last time, if you want it." His stock grows with the day as shown in the table above. This keeps going for the whole run until you report him.
