- Pick Apprentice on your first run — it starts with stock and the full tutorial.
- Rent is due every 7 days. Set the next payment aside before you buy machines.
- Stolen goods lose 18 Heat per night. Let them cool before you sell.
- Never put contraband in the Display Case — it is an instant arrest.
- Buy the Business Permit before enforcement starts, or the run ends.
Probably Stolen is a cyberpunk shopkeeping sim by Questing Goose Studio, published by tinyBuild and released on PC on 28 October 2026. You run a pawnshop on a dystopian space station, buy whatever people bring in — much of it probably stolen — and sell it on before the rising rent or Station Security catches up with you.
This wiki is built from the game's own data. Item values, contraband tiers, perk costs, faction thresholds and ending conditions are the real in-game data of the current version, checked against play. Where a community guide and the game disagree, the game wins, and we say so.

How a day in Probably Stolen works
Every day follows the same loop. What changes is what you dare to keep on the counter.
- 01Set upStock the Display Case and signs before you open — they decide who walks in.
- 02Open the shutterServe one customer at a time: appraise, haggle, buy and sell.
- 03Close upPay attention to what is on the counter and hide anything hot.
- 04NightSleep (machines run, Heat cools) or go out scavenging.
Before you open, the Display Case and neon signs decide your customers. The Display Case pulls in buyers who want what is on show; neon signs pull in sellers of that category. Then you raise the shutter and deal with one customer at a time — checking items for fakes, haggling, and deciding whether a bargain is worth the Heat.
At night your machines run, stolen goods cool down, and you can head out to the Dumping Ground to scavenge. The beginner guide walks through your first two weeks.
How you win — and how you lose
There are two ways to win, both called Buyout:
- Pay the Landlord the full deed price. On Mark Up (Normal) difficulty it starts at 12,000 credits, stays flat until Day 50, then rises by 50 credits a day up to 17,000.
- Take the Loan Shark's mortgage and pay off every weekly installment.
There are fifteen ways to lose. The common ones are missing a rent payment after your grace is used up, being arrested when Security's investigation closes in, and letting a faction's reputation fall to −100. The deed planner shows the price for your difficulty and day, and the endings list explains every trigger.
The three things that end most first runs
Rent. Rent is due every seventh day and goes up each time you pay — by 5% on Mark Up, 10% on Thin Margins and Red Ink. A run rarely dies to one bad day; it dies when a shiny new machine eats the money you needed on Sunday.
Heat and inspections. Stolen items carry Heat, and every point of Heat is the chance an inspector finds them. Heat falls by 18 every night, so patience is the cheapest protection you have. Contraband is different: inspectors always find it unless it is hidden. Selling it pays +35% to +150% depending on the tier. The contraband and Heat guide has a calculator for both.
Faction reputation. Six groups watch how you trade: Lower Levels, Upper Levels, Security, the Black Market, the Revolution and the Sector 13 Cartel. Each has perks at +20 through +100 and punishments down to −100, where most of them end your run outright. See factions.
What changed in version 1.0
The 1.0 release shipped nine starting scenarios, four difficulties, vending machines, 21 achievements, finished storylines for characters like Lou and Officer Lun, and a reworked interface. The first hotfixes rebalanced water: the Moisture Farm dropped from 650 to 350 credits, the Water Filter from 50 to 25, and Dr. Jackson's markup from 25% to 15%. Values on this wiki match game version 1.0.0.6.
The developers have announced more starting scenarios — Junker, Organ Dealer and Street Food Vendor already exist in the game as works in progress — plus expeditions and an extension of the main story.

FAQ
Is Probably Stolen on Steam Deck?
Yes. Valve rates it Playable on Steam Deck. It runs, but the default controller layout does not cover everything, the button prompts do not match the Deck, and some interface text is small. A mouse-only control scheme is built in, so the touchpad works well.
What is the best starting scenario in Probably Stolen?
Apprentice for a first run. It starts with 550 credits, household goods and food in stock, and it is the only start the game marks as recommended for new players. Fence, Gunsmith, Chemist and Rock Bottom skip the introduction and assume you already know the loop.
How do you win Probably Stolen?
You win by buying the store from the Landlord. You can pay the full deed price in cash, or take the Loan Shark's mortgage and pay it off. On Mark Up difficulty the deed starts at 12,000 credits and only starts rising after Day 50.
How many endings does Probably Stolen have?
The game has 17 endings: two Buyout wins and 15 ways to lose, from defaulting on rent to being arrested, executed or bombed. One of them, Assassinated, cannot currently trigger in a normal run.
Can you play Probably Stolen on Mac?
There is no macOS version — the game is Windows only. Mac players run it through a compatibility layer such as CrossOver or a Windows virtual machine; performance depends on your setup.
Does Probably Stolen have mod support?
Yes. Version 1.0 shipped with Steam Workshop support and an official modding API documented by the developer. Older MelonLoader mods made for the demo generally do not work with 1.0.
